Pastor Somehow Winds Up In Handcuffs And Gag, Makes 911 Call Of The Year

Well, that was fast. We’re sure that Americans across the nation will call 911 for all sorts of ridiculous situations as 2013 unfolds, but we’re not sure what could top the incredibly awkward and exceedingly polite 911 call made by one Father Donovan, a pastor at St. Aloysius of Springfield, IN.

See, the good pastor was just playing with a pair of handcuffs and somehow managed to click them over his wrists.

While wearing a gag.

Hear the call for yourself:

While he never comes out and admits he’s gagged, although it’s pretty obvious from the recording, it’s part of the public record this was the case:

Donovan told the dispatcher that he was alone in the rectory. It’s not clear exactly how he ended up in handcuffs or why he feared a medical emergency. His voice sounds garbled or muffled on the tape, and sources say that police discovered some sort of gag on the priest when they arrived.

The pastor was granted a leave of absence just before Christmas, and his diocese is not handing out his information or granted any interviews about the matter. Which is probably for the best, since, really, you need a lot of time and privacy for the kind of contemplation Father Donovan requires.

Like explaining that gag thing. That’s going to take a hell of a story.
