R.I.P. Your Dad’s Favorite Author, Tom Clancy

Details are vague, but according to Publishers Weekly, bestselling spy author Tom Clancy, whose many books, including The Hunt for Red October and The Sum of All Fears, have been adapted into blockbuster films and video games, died last night. Julie Bosman, who covers book publishing for the New York Times, confirmed the news, tweeting, “Tom Clancy’s publisher confirms to the NYT that he died last night in a hospital in Baltimore.”

We’ll update with more information when it’s available, but until then, it’s best to give your father a call — he’s going to be upset to learn he can’t pick up “a new Jack Ryan” the next time he’s at the airport.
