When it comes to Ask Reddit threads, there’s always a question of whether people are making stories up for points. These intangible pats on the head can motivate users to conjure up the most imaginative tales and climb to the top of the thread ladder. For the most part, these threads are confessionals or even informative and hilarious throwdowns, but there are instances when people make stuff up to impress their internet bros. This is especially the case when it comes to free-standing threads with easily-conjured “evidence.”
Reddit user Gez Stickman created his own thread to post an “angry neighbor” note. Allegedly, ol’ Gez had been having such amazingly loud sex that he upset the neighbor, who simply couldn’t take the idea of his overwhelming prowess without a complaint. Gez posted this letter and a second one, which was (also allegedly) composed by a mystery party on his behalf.
Surely, a letter like the first one could conceivably happen. The second letter, however, puts Gez’s story into overdrive. There’s virtually no likelihood that an impartial third party would take the time to do two things: (1) Call out the initial letter writer; and (2) Congratulate Gez on his amazing talents in the sack. It’s too much detail, and Reddit doesn’t buy the story. Here’s a small sampling of what Reddit commenters had to say to Gez:
- “OP, please turn down the volume on your computer while watching porn.”
- “Sure you did…
- “I cannot believe this guy! OP went through the trouble to make two fake notes just to lie about having sex on Reddit!”
- “The only logical explanation is that OP hired two people to write the notes ($1,000 each). Now OP is mad because he could of just spent the $1,000 on hookers for real sex.”
- “I would like to write a letter to OP to get him to stop writing letters in order to fake a sex life to impress Reddit…”
- “My note would have said: ‘To the inconsiderate people that had sex last night and were incredibly loud… Dude, she’s faking it.'”
Brutal.
