Looking for a quick and easy bite while trying to catch a flight isn’t always the easiest thing. My layover got cut short the last time I traveled, and while I had to run to catch my next flight, the most substantial food option was a hummus and a pita chips box. That would have been fine, except that the hummus came out of — wait for it — a squeeze tube.
That was still not nearly as bad as this travesty that was served to a redditor who goes by Spambox by a British cafe chain called EAT at the Edinburgh Airport last week. He wrote: “This is what a £3.20 bacon and egg roll from Edinburgh airport looks like.” To add insult to injury, he also wrote that he had to wait 15 minutes at a dirty table for it by employees who completely forgot about his order.
After the photo of the sandwich went viral in the UK, a representative for the Edinburgh Airport told the Scotsman:
We work closely with all of our food and beverage providers to ensure we offer customers the best choice of refreshments and service.
Sadly on this occasion we fell below the mark and offer our apologies to this customer. Clearly this is not the service we should be providing and we will be addressing this complaint with EAT.
The sandwich recipient wasn’t looking for any compensation and also wrote on Twitter that he was just having a laugh, but maybe his social vigilantism will save someone else from getting a crappy breakfast sandwich. Justice!
