Sin City: A Dame To Kill For is already shooting at Robert Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios in Austin, Texas. Rodriguez spoke to MTV’s Josh Horowitz at Sundance, revealing some new information. He confirmed Bruce Willis will be back, and he confirmed some other casting rumors as well as explaining a little more about Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s character.
“[Gordon-Levitt] plays a gambler, a very cocky gambler who comes in and tries to beat the biggest villain in Sin City at his own game. The story is called The Long Bad Night. He beats the wrong guy in the game. Bad stuff happens to him. Bad stuff.” [transcribed by /film]
Bad stuff like having to wear makeup to look like Bruce Willis? That would be awful.
Rodriguez also confirmed an earlier report that Ray Liotta, Juno Temple, and Jeremy Piven had been cast.
“[Juno Temple] just shot, she was fantastic. Her and Ray Liotta played together, they were amazing. Jeremy Piven shot just last night. […] There are some characters from the book. It might surprise people who they play and the turns that they do.” [transcribed by Bleeding Cool]
The titular “dame to kill for” has not been cast yet. Rodriguez says her scenes don’t start filming until two weeks from now. As for the rest of the casting, Josh Brolin recently signed to play the pre-plastic surgery version of the character played by Clive Owen in Sin City. Mickey Rourke, Rosario Dawson, Jessica Alba, Jaime King, Jamie Chung, Dennis Haysbert, and Chris Meloni have also signed on.
Wait, they aren’t bringing Nick Stahl back, too? It’s not like they couldn’t find him– oh.
