Dog is allegedly man’s best friend, but man, well, man is just a d*ck to everybody.
This photo, first posted on the Scottish SPCA’s Facebook page, is making its rounds on the Internet today and it might just be the saddest thing you’ve ever seen. The sweet Shar-pei goes by the name of Kai and was abandoned at a Scottish train station before being rescued Friday. Kai was tied to a post with only a suitcase filled with his belongings (a pillow, a toy, a bowl and some food stuffed amongst it all). The cute pup was left by an unknown owner who reportedly bought him on Gumtree (basically the UK’s version of Craigslist). From Buzzfeed:
The dog is microchipped and we were able to find out his name is Kai.
We contacted the owner registered to the microchip, who stated they had sold Kai on Gumtree in 2013. Unfortunately they could not tell us the address of the person who bought him.
This case highlights the potential consequences of selling an animal online as it often leads to the impulse buying of pets that people know very little about.
Regardless of the fact Kai was left with his belongings, this was still a cruel incident and we are keen to identify the person responsible. If anyone can help we would ask them to get in touch as soon as possible.
Kai is around two to three years old and is a lovely dog with a nice nature. We will look after him until we can find him a permanent and loving home.
It’s great that Scottish SPCA were able to identify KaiĀ due to his micro chip. The authorities are currently looking for the individual who dumped him by the rail way tracks and hopefully will find them soon.
