Stan Lee Gets Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame, For Some Reason

Tuesday saw Marvel mainstay Stan “The Man” Lee getting a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. Which begs the question…does he deserve it?

Now, we’re not saying that Lee isn’t a true living legend of comics, but this is the Hollywood Walk Of Fame and nominees are supposed to have made contributions to one of five categories: motion pictures, television, audio recording, broadcast radio or live performance. So, where does Lee fit into that?

Now, Lee has created some of the greatest comic characters of all time, which have been used in some of the biggest movies of all time. But by that same token, Shakespeare and Steven King should have stars too, and they don’t. Now, Lee’s also been a producer on just about every Marvel-related project in history, but that doesn’t mean he ever did anything for those projects…or even showed up at all.

So, clearly he’s getting the star for bravura cameo performances like “Willie Lumpkin” in Fantastic Four, “Hot Dog Vendor” in X-Men, and “man who almost walks into traffic” in Daredevil. Which now that we watch them again, are well worth honoring.

Excelsior, Mr. Lee!
