This video is filled with people you probably wouldn’t want to count as friends. There’s a woman etching away at the walls and windows of a subway car. There’s an apathetic audience of fellow travelers who don’t seem to care or notice (They’ve got more important things to think about, and no one’s life is in immediate peril.) And there’s a know-it-all sort of man who sways up to the woman to inform her that she’s vandalizing. She completely disagrees with this guy. No one really knows why she expended the energy to deface this subway car, but she thinks she’s not vandalizing, and don’t tell her otherwise. Here’s the befuddling verbal exchange:
Man: “You know that’s vandalism, right?”
Woman: “I thought I was just scratching. Isn’t vandalism only paint? I thought it was only paint. Like, spray-paint.”
Man: “So, you’re scratching sh*t on windows here and you think it’s not vandalism?
Woman: “I don’t know what to say. I thought it was just paint.”
Do we believe this woman didn’t know what she was doing? Nahh. Do we believe this man had any ulterior motive other than to make himself look like an upstanding citizen? No way. There are no winners here, only people who wish they were not on that train.
