It ain’t easy for women in this world. Sydney Leroux Dwyer is a forward for the U.S. Women’s National Team and FC Kansas City, but she hasn’t played since the 2015 Women’s World Cup due to ankle surgery last fall and a pregnancy that was announced in January. While the September due date means she’ll miss the chance to be a part of the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team and the entire 2016 NWSL season, it doesn’t mean she has to sit on the couch all day.
Leroux Dwyer (formerly Leroux, but she married Sporting Kansas City forward Dom Dwyer last year) has spent her summer staying fit and active, swimming and even tubing on the water.
But apparently, even these modest activities are too active for a pregnant woman for some people. With several folks leaving comments on her Instagram telling her, in less than pleasant terms, that she’s endangering her child, Leroux Dwyer chimed back that if it ain’t your kid, kindly shut the hell up.
It’s tough out here for women because if people can’t even give a top professional athlete the right to choose how she treats her body and unborn child, your average mom-to-be doesn’t stand a chance. She’s 26 years old, folks, and she’s played in World Cup and Olympic matches. I highly doubt the average Instagram commentator’s body is as finely tuned a machine as hers. That baby is probably a-ok.
