In an exciting new development that proves that we haven’t yet seen it all, Death and Taxes reports that a Japanese zoo is getting some hefty visitation numbers after installing a new gorilla named Shabani. And no, it’s not because Shabani does tricks or can understand what people are saying. It’s because Shabani is so goddamned handsome. You read that right: He’s the world’s most handsome gorilla! Check the video above (complete with some perfect mood music) — do you see it?
According to The Telegraph, the gorilla’s charm comes from his good looks and “dramatic poses.” What that means, exactly, is anyone’s guess, but guests have dubbed Shabani a “good-looking man.” Even the zoo employees who work with Shabani at the Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens are surprised by how popular he’s gotten. A zoo media-relations officer told The Telegraph that she’s surprised how handsome Shabani is, considering how much less cute he was in an old photograph.
Men are visiting the gorilla, too (possibly to pick up pointers on how to be classy and charming), but the women are coming in droves and posting about it on social media after. No one’s swooning in front of Shabani’s cage yet, but women are referring to their visits as a “fun holiday” and making much ado about his “flirtatious glances.”
At least Shabani’s getting visitors! That’s what counts, right?
