It might not be as frightening as the Batman 4D roller coaster, but Ai Pioppi is far more unique (and older) than the latest DC Comics-themed thrill ride. Why? Because you use your own kinetic energy to power all of the rides located at the “human-powered theme park” just north of Venice, Italy.
According to Tom Scott — the man who shot the above video — he wasn’t even sure the place was real:
The idea of unattended, huge kinetic ride-on sculptures was surely false? There was some evidence: a very artfully-shot documentary, and some shaky tourist footage, but I couldn’t quite believe that something this potentially dangerous could still exist.
So on Easter weekend, when it was quiet, Paul and I took a road trip to try it. And it’s real. It’s very, very real. Watch as we try and take a somersault on the Bicycle of Death. (Via)
Turns out it’s very, very real. So real that Scott took too quick of a step on a platform and busted his face open:

Despite being surrounded by rusty metal, Scott seems to be tetanus-free. At least he didn’t break his phone.
