Potential future First Lady and human cash generator Kim Kardashian caused a bit of a stir over comments she made as part of her cover story in Wonderland. Now, the E! staple is clarifying who she’s voting for the in the upcoming presidential election.
In a statement on her web site, the photogenic mogul wants to sort out the context for her “I’m on the fence” remark that sparked a media frenzy. Could Kim K cast a ballot for Donald Trump? Was that Hillary and Kim selfie a mirage? Is she setting the table so Kanye can be the Democratic candidate in 2020? Theories were plentiful, so what is her course of action? Still Hillary.
“There was a point when I wasn’t 100% sure I was even going to vote in this election; I didn’t want to vote blindly,” wrote Kardashian in a post featuring the words “I’M WITH HER’ in enormous letters. “But I also thought about how not voting would mean that I wasn’t making my voice heard, so I decided to talk to my closest friends and family who I love and trust, to have an open conversation about politics.”
She did note that her conversation with Caitlyn Jenner was insightful, even if she won’t be sharing the same political leaning.
I had a long conversation with Caitlyn, who has always been open about her political views, and she encouraged me to do my research before making my decision and then vote for the candidate whose policies aligned with the things that matter most to me. And so that’s what I did. I thought about the things that are so important to me that they outweigh everything else, such as gun control and protecting women’s rights to safe and legal abortion.
According to Kim, this election she’s casting her vote for her children, as well as herself. (Not in a doing multiple ballots way, but in more of the lofty “children are our future” way.) Beyond expressing her political preference, the former WrestleMania host endorsed the value of having an open mind.
Now that I have made my choice I want to be clear… I would never judge anyone based on their political or religious beliefs. I believe that both candidates have the intention of making the country a safer and stronger place for every American, they just have different ideas about how we get there.
It would have been sort of fun for Kim Kardashian to do a LeBron style selection special in laying out who she’s voting for, but this statement will certainly do. Her editorial comment is pleasant, diplomatic and pro-vote with no mud being slung. She’s a pro, that Kim.
