Kirstie Alley was a guest on The Howard Stern Show this morning, presumably as she’s promoting her latest fifty pound weight loss now that she and Jenny Craig are back together again — so of course Howard took the opportunity to ask her about Scientology. Alley revealed that she has reached “Operating Thetan” level seven (OT7) which is the second highest level of Scientology you can achieve, whatever the hell that means, because I looked it up on Wikipedia and then immediately changed my mind about that decision.
At any rate, Howard also asked her about her former friendship with Leah Remini. Remini, as you may be aware, left the church back in 2013 and has since been very vocal about her reasons for doing so, drawing the ire of many. Last time Alley appeared on Stern she had some strong words for Remini, calling her a bigot and saying that Remini’s claims were “bullsh*t.”
Alley was a little bit more diplomatic this time, saying that it’s all “water under the bridge” now and that words like “ostracize” and “shunned” were “funny” despite the fact that the church of Scientology allegedly has an official process for shunning. She also added a passive aggressive jab at the end, saying: “If a lot of people are rejecting you, at some point you’ve gotta ask, what am I doing? I mean that’s what I would have to ask myself.”
That’s right, everybody. It’s Leah Remini’s fault that the organization widely rumored to be using shunning practices is shunning not shunning her. Makes perfect sense to me.
