Someone Allegedly Found A Poisonous Gas Pokemon In The Holocaust Museum

The runaway success of Pokemon Go is at this point not up for debate, the developers are making fat stacks of cash and it’s become the new “it” thing to talk about all over social media. Pokemon are making appearances in all sorts of strange places, from people’s places of employment to churches, police stations and even museums. Not just normal museums, either, but rather sensitive museums like the Holocaust Museum. If that seems like an awkward place for people wandering around staring at their phones excitedly hunting pocket monsters, well, it is.

Apparently the headache isn’t quite over yet for the Holocaust Museum. According to The Daily Dot, a Twitter user is claiming that someone found a Koffing inside of the museum, more specifically inside of the Helena Rubinstein Auditorium where the walls are lined with testimonials about survivors of gas chambers. Yeah, this one was probably a bad joke, but that doesn’t mean that the museum isn’t concerned with Pokemon Go players infiltrating the museum.

“Playing the game is not appropriate in the museum, which is a memorial to the victims of Nazism,” museum director Andrew Hollinger said. “We are trying to find out if we can get the museum excluded from the game.”

While the allure of “catching ’em all” is indeed a real one for players, sensitive situations like these will arise. The museum has reached out to Niantic, the game’s developer, in hopes of having their museum excluded from the whole Pokemon craze, but has yet to see a response.
