On Monday evening, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump will face off (if only it were a Face/Off) at New York’s Hofstra University for the first of three planned presidential debates. The certainly respectful, not-at-all testy showdown will be moderated by Lester Holt, a registered Republican who Trump thinks is a Democrat. Already off to a great start! It’s on Holt to ask the tough questions, like, “What happens if you become pregnant?” Oh wait, that was Zach Galifianakis, who grilled Clinton in the latest “Between Two Ferns.”
Is there any chance we might see Trump on the web series? Writer and director Scott Aukerman (“Stop Trumperman”) recently said he “can’t imagine a situation in which that would ever even occur. I just can’t see him subjecting himself to that.” Galifianakis was more forthcoming as to why that is.
“Doing it the other way doesn’t interest me,” the Baskets star told the Los Angeles Times. “He’s the kind of guy who likes attention – bad attention or good attention. So you’re dealing with a psychosis there that’s a little weird.” Galifianakis continued, “I wouldn’t have somebody on that’s so mentally challenged. I feel like I’d be taking advantage of him. And you can print that.”
If you want to see Trump, you can turn to any news network, at any hour of the day, every day. Until the end of time (that’s Nov. 8, if he gets elected).
