Yup, Neil Gaiman, creator of American Gods, Sandman and all sorts of other mystical, magical, creepy stuff, is making his first video game. It’s called Wayward Manor, and stars a ghost whose hopes of a peaceful afterlife keep getting interrupted by annoying living folk moving into his house. The player’s job is to take control of the ghost and scare the people out of the house in inventive ways.
In other words, it’s about as Neil Gaiman as a video game concept gets.
Hit the jump for a video introduction to Wayward Manor from Gaiman himself…
Gaiman sure likes the word “wonderful” doesn’t he?
Wayward Manor is being developed by The Odd Gentlemen, the team behind the indie hit The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom, so combined with Gaiman’s fun concept, things sound promising. Wayward Manor isn’t doing the crowdfunding thing, but there are all sorts of pre-order packages available on the game’s website — if you grab the $10,000 package you get to have a SPOOKY DINNER with Neil Gaiman himself! I’m emptying my bank account now!
Oh, and if you can’t wait until this fall for Wayward Manor to arrive, here’s the game’s plot in cartoon form…
