Former The Daily Show host Jon Stewart will be taking on a new mantle: the official host of WWE’s SummerSlam event.
Stewart is a long time WWE fan, and has long been peppering The Daily Show with references and coverage of WWE happenings, from the controversy of the “Russian” bad guy Rusev and The Real Americans tag team, to geeking out over Brock Lesnar while trying to report on the very serious news of the day.
One of Stewart’s greatest contributions to pro wrestling of late, and obviously his greatest concern going into the show, is his long-standing feud with current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. After sending taunting (threatening) videos to each other, Rollins crashed The Daily Show to intimidate Stewart in person. This is how it ended:
Though Stewart congratulated Seth Rollins on his title win after the last WrestleMania, we’re not quite sure fences have been mended. Either way, Rollins should probably keep one eye on Stewart (and his kicking foot) the whole time.
SummerSlam will also showcase to The CW’s Arrow star Stephen Amell, who is currently training for his in-ring debut against WWE’s Stardust.
The show will emanate from the Barclay’s Center on PPV and on the WWE Network on Aug. 22 at 7:00 p.m. ET.
