Remember when Cesaro made his main roster debut in WWE? His story was that he was a rugby player kicked out of his league for “excessive violence,” causing JBL to drop a lot of references that went unappreciated in America. Seriously, I know what “sevens” are and that’s about it. But anyway, here’s a case in which life is sort of imitating art.
Daniel Vidot hasn’t been kicked out of Australia’s National Rugby League or any other organization, but he is getting a look from WWE in the near future. Here’s his take on the opportunity, courtesy of Brisbane’s Courier-Mail.
“They’ve contacted me and have offered to fly me over to Orlando in a few weeks to try out for the WWE. I’m seriously looking at it. They first approached me last year but I was playing good football with the Broncos, so I didn’t take it seriously. Then just recently they contacted me again and I’ve decided I’m going to have a crack at it.”
“In high school, I did acting lessons, I performed in some theatre work so playing up in the WWE wouldn’t be an issue for me. I’m different to most league players. I’m not a boring sort of guy. Like a lot of kids, I watched wrestling growing up, I would pretend to be The Undertaker. They’ve got thousands of applicants but I’ve been advanced to the final 30 because I’m considered an elite athlete. The WWE talent scout reckons I’ve got the size and the look they are after so I’m going to give it a go.”
As he says in the interview, Vidot plays for the Brisbane Broncos of the NRL, but he’s also on the roster for the Samoan national team. Maybe The Rock will try and claim him as a distant cousin or something. And as I’ve mentioned in previous posts, NXT is undergoing an Aussie renaissance right now with Emma, Peyton Royce, Billie Kay, and Murphy already on the roster and TMDK somewhere in the works. But enough speculating, maybe you’d like to see him in action? Watch for the #5 white jersey.

I think it’s safe to say he knows his way around a fight.
