If you’re like us, you’ve been wondering where King Barrett’s been all week. He appeared alongside his League of Nations cohorts during the WWE TLC pre-show, but was notably absent during their run-in in the main event. Sheamus, Rusev and Alberto Del Rio all appeared on Raw, but still no King. What’s up? Did he take a wrong turn backstage and end up locked out of the arena?
We don’t have a lot of information, but according to Wrestling Observer Radio, Barrett is on the shelf with an undisclosed injury. Try to seem surprised. Barrett’s most recent match happened on the WWE Tribute to the Troops taping last week, and it’s believed he injured himself before the TLC pre-show.
WWE has suffered an abnormal amount of injuries this year, from Sting’s neck and Seth Rollins’ knee to Randy Orton’s shoulder and John Cena’s nose. This would be the latest in a long, long line. Barrett also has a history of getting injured, usually at the worst possible time. In 2012 he missed time with a partially dislocated elbow, and he missed half of 2014 with a separated shoulder.
We wish the King a speedy recovery from whatever injury he suffered, and hope he can get back on TV to take pins of the League of Nation as quickly as possible.
Update: I’m afraid I’ve got some good news! According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, Barrett has a nerve injury in his neck, but it isn’t serious and shouldn’t keep him out for much longer. Let’s hope that’s the extent of it, and that he doesn’t get a bunch of chairs dropped on his head the second he rematerializes.
