Pretty much since the moment Warner Bros. announced a former Daredevil and Oscar-winning screenplay writer as Batman, people have been wondering how long it’ll be before there’s a Batman movie. And from the sound of the above video, “not long” is the answer.
For various reasons, which we can’t get into here because they’re Batman V. Superman spoilers, a Batman movie or three will be especially appealing to Warner Bros. And it appears they’ve got Affleck and DC’s creative head Geoff Johns on it, as Affleck admits he’s working on “a project” with Johns in the DC All Access interview above. Certainly there’s no shortage of options in the DC and Vertigo canon that Affleck and Johns might be working on, but something tells us Batman is what they’re spending their time developing.
There’s no shortage of jumping off points provided by Batman V. Superman, either. Contrary to what you might have heard, the movie doesn’t explain much of what’s been going on in the twenty years Batman has been punching criminals. Why Wayne Manor is a burned-out wreck, which of Robin’s suits is kept under glass in the Batcave–all that’s left up in the air. But we know one thing: The Lego Batman Movie is going to be a hard act to follow.
