Zack Snyder turns on the Batsignal, reveals JK Simmons’ Commissioner Gordon

J.K. Simmons, previously announced as the new Commissioner Gordon for DC's cinematic universe, gets his big Justice League costume reveal (along with the Batsignal) on the very appropriate Batman Day. Thanks, Zack Snyder!

Twitter seems to be the go-to spot for Warner Bros. to debut new superhero stuff. Ben Affleck teased Deathstroke's movie universe debut, we got a look at the new Batmobile, and most recently Batman's Justice League tactical suit. And today, Batman Day, Snyder has chosen to give us our first look at Batman's BFF, Commissioner Gordon, with bonus Batsignal.

And what a lovely composed shot it is. I've zoomed in a bit for you to see Simmons clearer.

They should probably invest in a more secure door for the roof of police headquarters, no? That door is looking straight out of the '60s Batman series. Perhaps that's on purpose. Gordon's look by itself is looking pretty classic.

Ben McKenzie is currently playing a younger version of the character on Fox's Gotham while Gary Oldman was the last actor to play him on the big screen. Famous for playing J. Jonah Jameson in the first run of Spider-Man films, I thought it was sort of amusing Simmons would be talking on another classic comic book character (though many others have crossed between in the past). I'm interested to see how this Gordon is presented.

Snyder also posted a photo of himself with the Batsignal.

Happy Batman Day, everyone!
