In the past few years, the North American wrestling scene has gone through a British Invasion of sorts, leaving fans clamouring to find out more about the Brits who have swept across the pond and made off with their hearts. WWE propelled that movement even further with the UK Championship and its accompanying tournament that crowned Fight Club Pro’s own Tyler Bate as the innaugural winner. Prior to that, they partnered with well-known promotions like Rev Pro and PROGRESS to scout and source talent for the very first Cruiserweight Tournament.
Now, as the demand keeps rising, one filmmaker has set out to introduce the world to what PROGRESS is really all about. Documentary director/producer Dale Beaumont-Brown explains:
This project started life as a short film in May 2016, but I soon realised that their story ran deeper and decided to develop it into a feature-length film. ‘THIS.IS.PROGRESS.’ is a feature-length documentary that charts PROGRESS Wrestling’s ascension to the heady heights of the UK independent wrestling scene. The film dissects what makes them, their wrestlers and the fans stand out as some of the most exciting and unique in the world.
As further proof of pro wrestling fans’ desire to see this happen, crowdfunding for the documentary raised over 50% of its goal within the first few days. There’s still a ways to go, but if you just can’t get enough of the standout London indie and its punk rock spirit, it’ll be a must-see.
