We May Not See Austin Aries Back In WWE For A While

Over the past year, Austin Aries has missed some extended time due to a serious eye injury, seen his fiancee get signed to WWE, seen his WrestleMania match get cut from the North American DVD release, and has come up short in like five million different WWE Cruiserweight Championship matches. And that’s not to mention your standard wear and tear that comes with working a full-time WWE schedule. At least we know he’s been getting plenty of potassium.

Regardless of his banana intake, it seems like the bumps and bruises may have caught up to the 39-year-old veteran.

On Wednesday, Aries was a guest on Busted Open Radio and revealed that he will be taking some time off from WWE to deal with some nagging injuries. (Transcript via WrestleZone.)

“I’ve got some stuff going on, but just to be fair you could probably say that for a lot of the locker room. It’s kind of part of what we do, I don’t think anyone is ever 100%. So I got a couple things going on and obviously at this point it might be a good time to take a little break which really could consist of two days to just adjust some of those things, try and get my mind and my body right and then come back and figure out what’s gonna be next and what the direction’s gonna be.”

Aries is currently promoting his first book, which is about his journey as both a wrestler and a vegan in pro wrestling, and if he needs to take some time off, this is certainly a good time to do it. His program with Neville has run its course, and he can keep busy making the media rounds for his book. We wish Aries a speedy recovery, and we hope that when he returns, he will occasionally swap out his Muppet-hide coat for his tiny cape, which is an all-time great look.
