The pro wrestling world has been intensely focused this week on the health and wellbeing of double Hall of Famer Ric Flair, as the greatest of all time is still in an Atlanta hospital following surgery. His family is with him at this time, and up until this point, details about his ailment and the nature of the surgery have been scarce.
The first definitive-sounding news that came out about Flair’s procedure indicated that it was a colon surgery to remove a blockage that had caused his kidneys to fail. That was apparently on the case, as Flair’s fiancee, Wendy Barlow, posted an update to family and friends on Facebook to disclose some more information. A screenshot of her update was originally posted by TMZ and was later confirmed on ESPN.
The Facebook post read as follows:
“Just want to give an update to my friends and family as I have been unable to talk on the phone without crying and just feel shocked over events. I took Ric to the hospital Friday night with severe abdominal pain. From that moment on it all seems like a nightmare … multiple organ problems. Not to go into too many details I want everyone to know he still needs prayers as he is still in critical condition. And no he did not have colon surgery … it was another surgery! I don’t know how the Media comes up with their stories. I have been by his side since Friday and will continue to make sure he is getting the best care possible. Thanks for all of the support and love.”
This is obviously a very serious condition and situation, but we are very glad that his family is nearby to support Flair as he fights through this.
