WWE Is Bringing Back ‘WarGames’ For The First Time In Nearly 20 Years

Someone inside the walls at WWE headquarters is clearly on a nostalgia kick. From the Cruiserweight Division, to the Punjabi Prison, to Starrcade, WWE is in the business of bringing things back to life these days, with the latest installment of “how can we boost ratings” featuring the return of WarGames! No, really, WarGames is coming back.

Triple H made the official announcement on Twitter Wednesday night. If you’re jonesing for some WarGames, you’ll have to wait until November 18th at the appropriately titled NXT TakeOver: WarGames. If you’re in the Houston area, tickets go on sale on October 13th at 10am CT.

For those unfamiliar, WarGames is a chaotic match between teams that is fought in two rings enclosed by a steel cage. The last WarGames event took place on September 13th, 1998, with new rules and featured Team WCW (Diamond Dallas Page, Roddy Piper and The Warrior) against nWo Hollywood (Hollywood Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart and Stevie Ray) and nWo Wolfpac (Kevin Nash, Sting and Lex Luger). So, yeah, it’s been a while.

If you’re still lost, WWE uploaded a small clip of Sting’s Squadron vs. The Dangerous Alliance in a WarGames match from 1992 to their YouTube page.

WWE hasn’t announced who will be competing in WarGames, but as long as WWE is reaching into their bag of WCW tricks, what do we have to do get Halloween Havoc back? Tis the season, after all.
