On Wednesday night, the Yellow Brand held its latest batch of television tapings, and this time they were back home at Full Sail in Winter Park, Florida. Please be aware that everything you read in the subsequent paragraphs is an actual, massive, legitimate spoiler for what will happen over the next several weeks of NXT television. You may read on only at your own risk. But if you’re the sort of person who just simply cannot wait until it happens on WWE Network to find out what happens next, congratulations! This post is for you!
This was the first set of tapings after WrestleMania 34 weekend, and the first after a big batch of main roster callups.
Results from the April 11, 2018 tapings:
– The dark match prior to the tapings had Lio Rush (with a new enforcer, former NFL player Babatunde Aiyegbusi) defeating Chico Adams via pinfall after a frog splash.
– Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae opened the first show of the tapings in the ring. Gargano said it’s great to be back in NXT and put Tommaso Ciampa behind him. They announced LeRae would be fighting Zelina Vega in some unfinished business, and Gargano announced his intent to return to NXT Championship contention.
1. Ricochet defeated Fabian Aichner. Ricochet won with a pin after a 630 splash.
2. War Raiders defeated Chris Metro and JC Metro. This was the debut NXT match for the former War Machine. They won by pin after a Demolition Legdrop.
3. No Disqualification Match: Lars Sullivan defeated Killian Dain. Sullivan hit a Freak Accident on top of multiple chairs for the pin.
4. Candice LeRae defeated Zelina Vega. Andrade Almas attempted to interfere, but Gargano intercepted him and held him in Gargano Escape while LeRae locked in a Gargano escape on Vega for the submission victory.
– After the match, Gargano officially challenged Aleister Black for an NXT Championship match, and Black accepts for “next week.”
– Undisputed Era made their entrance with all four members and their belts. Roderick Strong was officially named one-half of the tag team champs, and he called Pete Dunne selfish and said joining TUE was the best decision of his life.
5. NXT North American Championship Match: Adam Cole (c) defeated Oney Lorcan. The Undisputed Era got involved in the match, and Danny Burch tried to even the odds, to no avail.
6. Heavy Machinery defeated Riddick Moss and Tino Sabbatelli. Moss was pinned following a Compactor after Sabbatelli walked out on him. After the match, Heavy Machinery called out War Raiders.
7. Kairi Sane defeated Shazza McKenzie. Sane won by pinfall after the elbow drop. After the match, Lacey Evans came to the ring to apologize to Sane. She offered Sane a handshake but instead hit her with the microphone.
8. TM61 defeated Street Profits. TM61 got a dirty pin with feet on the ropes for leverage.
9. Kona Reeves defeated Patrick Scott.
10. Bianca Belair defeated Candice LeRae. LeRae seemed out of sorts in the match, likely from a backstage angle. Belair pinned her following the reverse powerbomb.
11. Pete Dunne defeated Roderick Strong. Dunne won by disqualification when the Undisputed Era jumped him. Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch ran in for the save.
– Ricochet came to the ring and cut a promo about how he intends to take over NXT. Velevteen Dream interrupted Ricochet and took exception to this. He said Ricochet will end up at the back of the line.
12. EC3 defeated Raul Mendoza.
13. Dakota Kai defeated Vanessa Borne. Kai won by pinfall after a Kai-knee-dian Destroyer. After the match, Shayna Baszler came out and stared down Kai, who backed off and let her beat down Borne.
– Johnny Gargano came out for his NXT Championship match against Aleister Black, but was attacked from behind and beaten down by Tommaso Ciampa. They fought on the ring table and brawled to the outside until Gargano was ultimately stretchered out.
14. War Raiders defeated Heavy Machinery.
15. Tommaso Ciampa defeated Kassius Ohno. Ciampa pinned Ohno after a knee to the back of the head. After the match, Ciampa choked Ohno with his knee brace.
– Aleister Black came out to cut a promo, but was interrupted by SAnitY. This led to a dark match main event where Black defeated Eric Young, and then laid out the rest of SAnitY and celebrated with his title.
