In Batista’s life away from the squared circle, he’s seen immense success as a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy cast, starring in two standalone Guardians movies and the wildly profitable Avengers: Infinity War film. With a third Guardians movie and two additional Avengers films on the way, Batista is truly living his best life in Hollywood.

Naturally, when news broke of Jared Leto’s Joker character getting a spinoff solo movie after his debut in Suicide Squad, the former WWE champ took his shot at getting a standalone Drax film.

While James Gunn seems to be on board with a Drax solo effort, if the film does actually go through, it will take the back burner behind Marvel’s already loaded production schedule. With Captain Marvel and two Avengers movies planned for 2019, as well as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
planned for 2020, the next few years appear packed.

As for Batista, you won’t be missing him on the screen for long, with seven upcoming projects listed on his IMDB over the next two years, including next year’s untitled Avengers movie.

He also remains seriously interested in a return to WWE. Batista’s last match was on June 1, 2014, against the Shield in a six-man tag match with Triple H and Randy Orton at Backlash. He’s spent much of the last few years actively seeking out a final match, even apparently talking with the company about being involved with Ronda Rousey’s debut at WrestleMania 34. If the former WWE star doesn’t get the “right” opportunity, he’s spoken openly about walking away from the ring for good. For now, we’ll have to settle with watching him continue to crush it on the big screen.
