Leading up to Monday’s Raw, WWE promoted a special announcement that would be made by Stephanie McMahon. Many speculated the announcement might by the introduction of women’s tag titles, but instead the Raw GM took to the ring to announce the first ever all women’s PPV event, Evolution.
Stephanie was joined by Vince and Triple H for the announcement as they brought out the entire Raw roster to the stage to break the news.

“Because of all of you, men and women using your voices for change, we are able to provide the platform to show the world that women can do anything and be anything they want to be,” McMahon said. “Because of all of you, we are able to stand here and make another first-ever announcement. On October 28, over 50 women, then, now and forever, will participate in an event called Evolution, and that event, I am privileged to announce, will be the first-ever all-women’s pay-per-view.”
The PPV event will take place on October 28 and will feature matches for the Raw Women’s Championship, Smackdown Women’s Championship, NXT Women’s Championship, and the finals of the Mae Young Classic. As noted by Stephanie McMahon, 50 women will participate in the event, and with only those four matches announced that leaves an awful lot of opportunities for other matches on the card.
It’s possible women’s tag belts will be introduced later to tack on two more matches for the Raw and Smackdown divisions, and maybe some kind of battle royale/rumble to involve the rest of the roster. In any case, it’s another great step for WWE in bringing the women’s division to the forefront and we hope they continue to expand the division and the opportunities those in it have on major events.
