Watch Two Lucha Underground Stars Get Engaged At An Indie Show

El Rey Network

Just because wrestler Brian Cage (of Lucha Underground, Impact, AAA, and indie fame) calls himself the Machine doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a heart. Cage showed off his romantic side when he proposed to his girlfriend LU ring announcer Melissa Santos, with whom he has an adorable baby girl, at California independent promotion Bar Wrestling‘s “We’re All Mad Here” show last night. With Santos the show’s guest ring announcer, Cage had the perfect opportunity to publicly pop the question after he and Luchasaurus defeated the RockNES Monsters.

Check out these fan videos of the proposal:

Santos said yes to “the big booty father of [her] child” and later posted excitedly about it on social media.

Early this morning, Cage revealed that, in classic pro wrestling fashion, the proposal was ACTUALLY A WORK, but not in that they won’t really be getting married. He tweeted that he had originally proposed before Santos was pregnant, but the engagement “was never announced or celebrated until now.”

Hopefully Santos and Cage’s wedding will go a little more smoothly than Taya and Johnny’s! And even if Lucha Underground doesn’t come back for a fifth season, at least it left a legacy of love? (Along with adding variety to pro wrestling on American TV and Netflix increasing awareness of lucha libre in the U.S. and making some cool luchadors and indie wrestlers huge stars, I know, I know.)
