Here are your quick and dirty, editorial-free NXT TakeOver XXV results. The 25th TakeOver event featured matches for the NXT, NXT Women’s, and NXT North American Championships as well as a four-team ladder match to crown new NXT Tag Team Champions.
NXT TakeOver XXV Results:
1. Matt Riddle defeated Roderick Strong. Riddle won a back-and-forth match with the “Bro Derek,” an inverted Gotch Neutralizer.
2. Ladder Match for the Vacant NXT Tag Team Championship: Street Profits defeated Forgotten Sons, Undisputed Era, and Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch. The Forgotten Sons almost had the titles won, but Angelo Dawkins speared Steve Cutler by running under the ladder, and Montez Ford jumped from the corner to the ladder to knock down Wesley Blake and win the match. Street Profits are the new NXT Tag Team Champions.
3. North American Championship Match: Velveteen Dream (c) defeated Tyler Breeze. Dream tried to hit Breeze with the North American Championship, but Breeze blocked it. The referee took the belt away from Breeze, and Dream used that distraction to hit a Dream Valley Driver and a Purple Rainmaker to win the match. After the match, Breeze and Dream took a selfie.
– A vignette for Damian Priest, the former Punishment Martinez, aired.
4. NXT Women’s Championship Match: Shayna Baszler (c) defeated Io Shirai. Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke tried to interfere, but were stopped by Candice LeRae. Shirai tried to pin Baszler with a bridging La Magistral cradle, but got caught in the Kirifuda Clutch. After the match, Shirai snapped and attacked Baszler with a kendo stick before hitting a moonsault, followed by a steel chair-assisted moonsault.
– NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff was announced for August 31, the same day as AEW All Out.
– Stephanie McMahon (and AEW’s Britt Baker, in the background) were shown in the crowd.
5. NXT Championship Match: Adam Cole defeated Johnny Gargano (c). Cole attacked Gargano’s knee throughout the match. Gargano countered a Panama Sunrise into a pin, but couldn’t counter a second Panama Sunrise. Cole followed that with the last shot to win the match and the championship.
