Bottlerock has become a fixture of music festival season since it first arrived in 2013. It has become a successful enough festival that, now, its organizers have branched out and started a completely new festival, too. This year marks the inaugural edition of La Onda, a fest focused on regional Mexican, Latin pop, and Spanish rock music, also based at the gorgeous Napa Valley Expo.

There are plenty of culinary delights to indulge in, as well. Featuring over 60 food and drink vendors from the Napa Valley, greater Bay Area, and Sonoma County, La Onda offers a variety of dishes from the wide-ranging Latin diaspora. As far as the music itself goes, the headliners are Maná, Fuerza Regida, Alejandro Fernández, and Junior H.

The stomp-and-holler revival is truly among us. That much is apparent from the folk-pop, rootsy lineup of Railbird Music Festival, which returns to the Infield at Red Mile in Lexington, Kentucky. For the first weekend of June, attendees can enjoy live music and premium bourbon, one of Kentucky’s most famous exports. You can check out the aptly named Bourbon Hideout from Justins’ House Of Bourbon, a Lexington staple.

The lineup itself includes headliners like Noah Kahan, Turnpike Troubadours, Chris Stapleton, and Hozier. Its undercard also includes quite a few big names: Elle King, Dwight Yoakam, Lord Huron, Counting Crows, Marcus King, and Wynonna Judd are all on the second line. Looks like it’s time to stomp and holler, indeed.

One of the most well-known groups in rap history is The Roots. With influential records like 1999’s Things Fall Apart and 2002’s Phrenology under their belt, Questlove, Black Thought, and co. have built an impressive legacy. To carry on the proverbial torch, their signature music festival, the fittingly named Roots Picnic, comes back for another two stacked days of hip-hop at The Mann in Fairmount Park.

This year, its lineup includes standout names like Nas, Jill Scott, Gunna, André 3000, and Lil Wayne, the latter of whom will be performing with The Roots. The undercard is nothing to scoff at either. Also slated to perform are Sexyy Red, The-Dream, Smino, Method Man & Redman, Cam’Ron, and Babyface.

Pride Month has officially begun. To celebrate queer identity, Outloud returns for its second-ever music festival in West Hollywood Park. What began as a live music series on Facebook back in 2020 has now transformed into a full-fledged festival that attracts tens of thousands of people. It’s a proud declaration of LGBTQIA+ identity, and it offers some exciting live music as a part of that celebration.

For Outloud’s 2024 iteration, festival goers can catch performers like Kylie Minogue, Janelle Monáe, Diplo, Trixie Mattel, Keke Palmer, Big Freedia, Channel Tres, and many others. There are also some special performances from Purple Disco Machine and DJ Holographic, plus a DJ set from Hot Chip.

New York State has claimed one of the most stacked hip-hop festival lineups of the summer. Hot 97’s Summer Jam, which heads to UBS Arena in Elmont, is a celebration of 30 years of the famous New York radio station. It’s a one-day party that’s sure to be an incredibly fun time. The celebrity host is A Boogie, and other hosts include Nessa, Ebro, Peter Rosenberg, and Laura Stylez.

The lineup includes artists like Sexyy Red, Doja Cat (and friends), Cash Cobain, French Montana, Davido, Lola Brooke, Fivio Foreign, and Ty Dolla $ign, to name just a handful. There will also be a celebration of the life of Mister Cee, the influential radio DJ who died in April, with Big Daddy Kane.

Primavera is undoubtedly one of the biggest names of the music festival season. Although its tentpole festival in Barcelona is what originally gave it its renown, it has sprouted into an international juggernaut with editions taking place in many other cities all across the globe. This month, Primavera’s stop is in Porto, Portugal.

This year’s Primavera Porto lineup is an eclectic mix that will appeal to all kinds of music fans. As far as headliners go, there’s SZA, PJ Harvey, and Mitski on Friday; Lana Del Rey and Justice on Saturday; and Pulp and The National on Sunday. Other artists on the bill include The Last Dinner Party, Billy Woods, Arca, Tirzah, Royal Blood, and American Football.

Governors Ball isn’t just one of the biggest music festivals in New York City; it’s one of the biggest festivals in the country. It comes back to Queens’ Flushing Meadows Corona Park for a weekend-long party with over 60 artists on the itinerary.

As always, Governors Ball boasts a varied lineup that’s sure to appeal to many different types of concertgoers. For the pop-inclined, there’s Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, and Reneé Rapp. For the indie heads, there’s Faye Webster, Alex G, and Hotline TNT. Rap fans can catch Sexyy Red, 21 Savage, and Kevin Abstract. And of course, there are the headliners, featuring The Killers, SZA, Peso Pluma, Post Malone, and Rauw Alejandro.

Punk is a genre built on intensity just as much as it is brevity. The underground’s greatest bands of the ‘70s and ‘80s would deliver countless anthems less than two minutes in length; they’d blaze through their adrenalized sets that lasted 30 minutes tops. So it would only make sense that No Values, a celebration of punk writ large, is a one-day affair.

Even for a one-day festival, No Values packs plenty of big names into a short timespan. Attendees can catch incendiary sets from Black Flag, Iggy Pop, Social Distortion, Turnstile, Joyce Manor, Bad Religion, The Jesus Lizard, and, to top it all off, the original Misfits. Punk fans will most certainly not want to miss this.

Bonnaroo was once known for its heavy focus on jam bands. As time has moved forward, however, it has expanded that niche to make room for music of all genres, much like Lollapalooza or Coachella. This June, Bonnaroo returns once again for another four-day fest on Manchester, Tennessee’s 700-acre farm.

For music fans of all stripes, there’s something to be excited about on this year’s slate of performers. The 2024 billing includes headliners Post Malone, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Fred Again.., and other big names include Megan Thee Stallion, Maggie Rogers, Khruangbin, Carly Rae Jepsen, Ethel Cain, Brittany Howard, T-Pain, Reneé Rapp, Idles, and Taking Back Sunday. There will also be what the festival describes as an “emo superjam” from Dashboard Confessional under the title “Once More With Feeling(s).”

Cole Bennett has slowly become one of contemporary hip-hop’s most recognizable names despite not being a rapper himself. Rather, he’s a music video director-turned-record executive known for the multimedia company Lyrical Lemonade. That company has become a big enough influence to warrant its own music festival, which comes to Bridgeview, Illinois’ SeatGeek Stadium.

The headliners this year are Cactus Jack (Travis Scott, Don Toliver, Sheck Wes, Sofaygo, and Chase B), Playboi Carti, and Chief Keef. The undercard also has many heavy-hitters, including Flo Milli, Big Sean, Denzel Curry, JID, Lil B, Xaviersobased, and Lil Yachty. According to the poster, there will also be “sounds by” Zack Bia, Kerwin Frost, F1lthy, DJ Scheme, and Gloupjake.

600 artists over the course of nine days is no small feat, but Milwaukee’s Summerfest is no small festival. Without a doubt, it is one of the biggest music festivals in the world, and just glancing at the lineup poster will tell you as much. Summerfest occurs over three separate weekends: June 20-22; June 27-29; and July 4-6. With a fest this big, there truly is something for everyone in your group to enjoy.

For this year’s headliners, there’s Kane Brown (with Kameron Marlowe and Nightly), Mötley Crüe (with Seether and Buckcherry), and SZA (with Aminé) the first weekend; Illenium, Tyler Childers (with S.G. Goodman and Adeem The Artist), and Keith Urban (with Needtobreathe and Alana Springsteen) on the second weekend; and, lastly, AJR (with Carly Rae Jepsen and Mxmtoon), Maroon 5, and Lil Uzi Vert (with Lil Yachty, JID, Rico Nasty, and Lihtz) on the final weekend. With so many performers and special guests, it’s bound to be a fun time.

Having such a monumental festival as Glastonbury at a place called Worthy Farm feels poetic. Only a fest as big as Glastonbury, which draws an attendance somewhere in the six-figure range, could be worthy of being held there. And it’s easy to understand why. The Somerset, UK festival, known for its sea of waving flags and enormous annual lineup, always delivers.

This year, Glastonbury will feature headliners SZA, Dua Lipa, Coldplay, and Shania Twain on the Pyramid stage. The Other stage includes The National, Disclosure, and Idles, plus there’s the Woodsies Stage with James Blake, Jamie xx, Sampha, Romy, and so much more. It’s a veritable behemoth of a festival, and, as per usual, it surely won’t be one to miss.

Wilco is among the most beloved indie rock bands of the past 20 years. They seldom make a bad record, as evidenced by classics like 1999’s Summerteeth and 2001’s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot as well as recent triumphs like 2022’s Cruel Country and 2023’s Cousin. Maybe they’ve even gotten some newer fans thanks to the prestige TV series The Bear. Whether you’re a Wilco head or not, their festival, Solid Sound, has plenty to be excited about.

For the Wilco fans, Jeff Tweedy and co. will be performing a full set of deep cuts on the first day of the fest. Aside from the main attraction, you can catch incredible bands like Dry Cleaning, Wednesday, Horsegirl, Ratboys, and Water From Your Eyes, just to name a handful of them. There will even be a live taping of the podcast Song Exploder, with the special guest being Jeff Tweedy himself.

Roskilde Festival, held every year in Denmark, is one of the largest festivals not just in the Nordic countries, but in Europe as a whole. Originally conceived in 1971 as a student project for two high schoolers and a promoter, Roskilde Festival has since blossomed into a gargantuan affair boasting some of the biggest names in music on its lineup.

This year, attendees can catch sets from artists like 21 Savage, Foo Fighters, Skrillex, SZA, Doja Cat, and Ice Spice. There’s also the classic Jane’s Addiction lineup, which you can watch for the first time since 2010. Also on the bill are Alvvays, PinkPantheress, Belle And Sebastian, PJ Harvey, and that’s merely scratching the surface.
