No, you do not have to click your browser’s refresh button. Yes, you read the headline above correctly. Fox News personality Megyn Kelly, who became a household name during the numerous times she took on Republican nominee Donald Trump and his supporters, is producing a comedy series called Embeds about the presidential campaign trail. What’s more, one of her producing partners is Michael De Luca — better known for his work on Fifty Shades of Grey and its upcoming sequel, Fifty Shades Darker. God bless America, forever and always.
According to Variety‘s exclusive report, Embeds “will follow five young reporters in way over their heads as they find themselves shaping the future of the country through raucous adventures in an unexpected world of sex, drugs, and swing states on the presidential campaign trail.” To make matters even more interesting, actual, recognizable politicians “are expected to cameo” in one or more of the six episodes ordered by Verizon’s streaming service Go90.
Sources tell Variety the short series hopes to “appeal to viewers who don’t follow politics religiously, as well as those who do.” Seeing as how the show will emphasize what happens to the young journalists, reporters, and producers who cover the semi-regular circus (instead of the circus itself), this probably won’t be a problem. Also, did I mention a Fifty Shades of Grey producer is attached to this?
Other highly talented individuals are hopping on the bandwagon to give Kelly and De Luca a hand. Like Sarah from Alaska co-author Scott Conroy, whose Sarah Palin biography sold big in 2010, and CNN correspondent turned Snapchat news editor Peter Hamby. They’ll be handling the scripts for each episode while De Luca and Kelly try to convince longtime bachelor Lindsey Graham to “embed” himself in an episode.
