The Oklahoma City Thunder are playing hosts to the Utah Jazz on Thursday night. Thunder star Kevin Durant decided that he wanted to bust out a pair of his new sneakers, Nike KD 8 Elites. They are the most vibrant orange things this side of a traffic cone and come with a compression sock that goes up the entire calf, so when Durant pulls them all the way up, his legs look like this:

Durant, uh, isn’t exactly known for having the biggest legs on earth in terms of muscle, but they are really long, so when he covers them up with a vibrant orange sock he looks kinda funny. Because it is a silly thing that lends itself to joke making, a bunch of people on Twitter decided to poke fun at Durant.
Everyone seems to be making the same joke about KD. Since he has long, thin, orange legs, that means his most accurate comparison is a bird. From Big Bird to Daffy Duck, people on the web keep making the same joke. Fortunately, it’s not one of those jokes that stops getting funny after you see it a few times.

The best Durant sneaker joke has nothing to do with famous birds, though. That one comes via Dan Devine of Yahoo! Sports, who gave us all a sneak peek of the follow up to these shoes, the KD 9 Elites.

Sure, these sneakers look a little silly, but as long as Durant is comfortable in them and he continues to get buckets, he can wear whatever he wants and we’ll be happy.
