This ‘Fantastic Beasts’ trailer ties back to ‘Harry Potter’ lore in a BIG way

Warner Bros. has released the final trailer for their Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. And it's a doozy.

The film has an amazing cast which includes Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Colin Farrell, Samantha Morton, Carmen Ejogo, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ron Perlman, Ezra Miller, Jon Voight, Zoë Kravitz, and Gemma Chan. While the story may be based on J.K. Rowling's book (which is really a textbook of sorts), this is uncharted territory and even longtime Harry Potter fans (myself included) were worried if this story would capture our imaginations like the seven-book series did.

Well, I don't have those worries anymore. While I already started to realize there may be more than meets the eye to this story from what Warner has released so far, the final trailer really got my attention.

Oh my god…

Did you catch that Grindelwald namedrop?! Holy cow. Whether or not they go there in this film, there's now the possibility we will get to see the epic wizard battle between a young Dumbledore and Grindelwald on the big screen. There are two other films already in the works, after all.

Also of note, Perlman's 1920s goblin gangster Gnarlack makes a big appearance here and that niffler going on a jewel heist leads me to think he might be working for the mob boss since his escape from Newt's case. That would be unbelievably hysterical to me.
