While summer festivals hummed to a triumphant conclusion, festival season is by no means over in 2022. Music lovers across the globe have been chomping at the bit to get back out with a crowd and their respective communities to enjoy the energy and vibrancy that only live music can bring. The back-end of this full festival season — the first since COVID-19 changed the way the world moves — has so much to offer to open up your mind, body, and soul back up again.
Both LA3C and Phoenix’s Zona Music Festival are happening for the first time. There’s an influx of artist-led festivals like Dia De Los Deftones in San Diego and Lil Weezyana in New Orleans. Meanwhile, The Netherlands’ Le Guess Who? takes the artist curation to a whole new level with Clipping and others helming entire showcases.
The international festival circuit is popping off as we head into the new year. And it’s none more evident than with respected festival brands expanding into new markets. Primavera Sound comes to Brazil, Argentina, and Chile for the first time, Pitchfork Festival will be happening in both London and Berlin, and the stateside Asian-American music explosion of 88rising’s Head In The Clouds festival will be happening in both Indonesia and the Philippines for the first time.
So that little bit of energy you’ve been keeping inside for a special occasion? This could be it.
