A fresh batch of national polls have Hillary Clinton holding a lead over Donald Trump as this week’s RNC is nearly upon us.
Politico notes that three new national polls have the presumptive Democratic nominee topping her Republican rival. Clinton holds a 4-point advantage over Trump in an ABC News/Washington Post poll, a 5-point advantage in an NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll and a 7-point advantage in a CNN/ORC International poll. Unsurprisingly, NBC’s polling reveals that 76 percent of Latino voters surveyed would vote for Clinton, while only 14 percent of that demographic said Trump’s their preference.
In addition to leading in the national polls, Clinton is currently ahead in a number of key swing states. The NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist poll data indicates that Clinton is outpacing Trump at the moment in Colorado, Florida, North Carolina and Virginia. The leads are in the 6-9 percent range when it’s just Hillary vs. The Donald, but the numbers shrink for both candidates when Gary Johnson and Jill Stein are indicated among the options.
It will certainly be intriguing to see if the Republican National Convention (and the potential clashes that could come with it) will help or hurt Trump’s polling numbers. No pressure, Scott Baio.
