With Blair Witch Project and The Ring reboots on the way, this is the last bit of news any of us needed. A South Carolina apartment complex has been told to stay on the lookout after multiple people in the last week or so have reported seeing a strange person dressed as a clown attempting to lure children into the woods. Residents of Fleetwood Manor Apartments in Greenwood County, South Carolina told local news outlets they have recently received letters at their homes warning them that a person dressed as a clown may be “trying to lure children into the woods.” Below is the full text of the letter sent out to residents on August 24th:
There has [sic] been several conversation [sic] and a lot of complaints to the office regarding a clown or a person dressed in clown clothing taking children or trying to lure children in the woods. First and foremost at Fleetwood Manor Apartments childrens [sic] safety is a top priority. At no time should a child be alone at night, or walking in the roads or wooded areas at night. Also if a person or persons are seen you are to immediately call the police.
It’s not only local children that claim to have seen the clown. An adult woman has also claimed to have seen the clown trying to lure children from the complex’s basketball courts. Authorities say the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office will conduct constant patrols of the area until the creep is either caught or the sightings cease. For now, apartment management is reminding children — and parents, for that matter — that walking in the woods at night is a no-go. We’re guessing the adults have read a few Stephen King novels, so they won’t need much convincing.
