David Dao, the doctor bloodied while being forcibly removed from a United flight by the Chicago Aviation Police Department, has told Kentucky CBS affiliate WKLY he is recovering in a Chicago-area hospital. When asked what was specifically injured, his response was, “everything” and that he is not doing well.
The 69-year-old man, who refused to take a later flight when United overbooked passengers and needed room for crew to board for another flight, was torn from his seat and had his face bashed into an armrest before he was dragged, possibly unconscious from the plane. He was later seen in another disturbing video saying, “just kill me,” while in a daze.

The family’s attorney Stephen Golan also made a statement to WKLY on behalf of the Dao family
“The family of Dr. Dao wants the world to know that they are very appreciative of the outpouring of prayers, concern, and support they have received. Currently, they are focused only on Dr. Dao’s medical care and treatment.”
This unconscionable event has led to one of the Chicago officers being put on administrative leave, United’s market value dropping by more than $800 million, and it still took multiple attempts for United’s CEO to apologize.
