Another update on the ongoing “Is Daniel Bryan injured or not?” saga. Well, it turns out that he is. Last we heard, WWE said that Bryan was undergoing diagnostic testing, although that may have been a bit of a work. The latest word is that Bryan already underwent that testing a while ago, and the news wasn’t good. Not as bad as it could have been, mind you, but still not good.
According to PWInsider, Bryan suffered some sort of injury in a six-man tag match in Dublin, Ireland on April 9. Following that match, he didn’t wrestle on Raw, and worked a light-style (by Daniel Bryan standards) in a SmackDown tag match with John Cena. He was then sent home from the European tour and hasn’t wrestled since. The exact nature of his injury is unknown, but he’ll apparently only be out for around a month, so hopefully it’s nothing too serious.
This means that, barring any ill-advised “miracle” recoveries by Bryan, he won’t be able to defend his title at Extreme Rules. Hopefully Bryan takes this month to rest up, and maybe reassess some of the stuff he does in the ring, rather than rushing back. It’s just the IC title, dude. It’s not worth risking your health.
