Dolph Ziggler May Be Planning To Leave WWE After His Contract Expires This Fall

Poor Dolph Ziggler. The guy’s produced countless great matches, rode multiple waves of fan support, proven himself to be a good ambassador outside WWE, and won the damn World Championship multiple times, yet all those brass rings still haven’t convinced WWE to truly pull the trigger with him. Somehow, “Dolph lays against the crowd barrier with despair in his eyes after another crushing loss” remains an all-too-common sight in WWE.

Well, word is that Dolph may be planning to go show off someplace else. While his departure isn’t officially confirmed, his contract is up this fall, and he’s yet to re-sign. This is surprising, being that WWE usually likes to get these things handled well in advance, re-signing major talents a year or more before their contract expires. In a recent appearance on MLW radio, former WWE head writer Court Bauer commented on the situation

“Dolph’s deal is up in a few months, and he has indicated informally that unless he gets a big push, he may leave like Mundo (John Morrison).”

Ziggler seemed to hint that his time may be up around a month ago, when he posted this strange, third-person “promo” on Twitter.

Note the mention of “5 months.” That would line up with when Ziggler’s contract is set to expire this fall.

Of course, this could all change. Ziggler could just be jockeying for more money/a better position, but if he’s planning to leave, nobody would blame the guy. It will be interesting to see what Ziggler does if he quits WWE. Lucha Underground would obviously be a good fit, although TNA would likely roll out the red carpet for him. Or maybe he’d pursue his comedy career more seriously and leave this whole wrestling thing behind him. What do you folks think? What should Dolph’s future hold?
