Trying to keep track of whether Arrow star Stephen Amell will be involved in some sort of match for WWE has been a bit of a roller coaster. They were definitely building to something earlier in the summer when Stardust and Amell had a brief confrontation on Raw, but Amell shot down rumors that any sort of match was happening, and then Cody’s father Dusty Rhodes passed away, and the whole thing was presumably off. But while Cody was taking time off, Amell teased he was still “doing some stuff” with WWE, and seemed to building something up with The Miz. Stardust is back, still a heel, and once again dropping Green Arrow references left and right. So, what the heck’s going on?
Well, the latest scuttlebutt is that WWE is building to a Stephen Amell and Neville vs. Stardust and The Miz match for SummerSlam. Amell was scheduled for a Wizard World convention the weekend of SummerSlam, but he recently canceled his Sunday appearance, opening him up for the pay-per-view. He also recently posted a very telling poll on Facebook…
Of course, given how this story has developed to date, this could change 10 times over the coming weeks, but it looks like the SummerSlam match is on as of now. Given the comic-book theme of the match, I’m hoping Amell shows up in full Arrow gear and knocks Stardust out with a boxing-glove arrow.
