And now, the best and worst of WWE 205 Live for December 19, 2017.

Best: A Gentlemanly Beatdown

I absolutely love The Brian Kendrick and Gentleman Jack Gallagher cutting a heel promo on Gran Metalik, a man who, to best of my knowledge, doesn’t speak English. It would have been great if after they finished talking, Metalik just hit them with a “Que?”

The match, as they usually are, was good. I like good old fashioned heel tag teams, cutting off the ring and building to the hot tag — so this was right up my alley. I also can watch Jack Gallagher do a sarcastic Eddie Guerrero shimmy all day. I can see putting these teams on the Royal Rumble pre show and giving them fifteen minutes to do something good.

The definitely highlight for me, because I’m a bad person, is some yahoo from the crowd nailing Kalisto with a bottle of water. I’m obviously on the “don’t throw things at wrestlers” camp, but, I mean, I’m still going to laugh. My bet it was Sin Cara being mad that Kalisto has a new tag team partner. His beverage throwing skills are second to none.

Oh, hi smarks.

Best: RESPECT

After weeks of videos hyping his arrival, Hideo Itami arrived the night before on Raw. A common complaint about 205 Live is that the wrestlers don’t ever interact with people on the main roster, but with Hideo helping out Finn Balor and Enzo doing his thing with Nia, hopefully we’ll start seeing more crossing over.

It’s good to see Hideo finally here though. He should be a big deal, but nobody seemed to let the crowd know that. They were DEAD for this. The look on Hideo’s face after he hit the Go To Sleep to silence was pretty funny to me. I wonder where he goes from here in the division. The title picture is pretty locked up with Enzo and will hopefully be leading towards a Gulak/Enzo match at Mania. Hopefully to kill time, Hideo can just destroy Colin Delany every week, and every week he’ll be in more and more bandages.

Best: That Lumbar Check

The main event is a rematch from Raw, with Drew Gulak promising to make up for his mistake and put Cedric down for good. It’s not on the WWE YouTube clip, but the pre match promo from Drew was amazing. Like the old saying goes, there’s a time for clip art and there’s a time for action! I love that the super intense Drew Gulak is still such a huge dork. It’s like in Spider-Man 3, when Peter Parker let the symbiote bring out the worst parts of his personality, and he’s just a total goofball. I stand by the statement that Spider-Man 3 was a good movie and the dancing Peter Parker stuff was the best part. Don’t @ me.

The match was fantastic. Drew Gulak was definitely been the MVP of the WWE both on the mic and in the ring. I liked that he actually did seem to bring an intensity to his actions — his strikes to Cedric in the corner seemed to have a bit more sting to them. Cedric busted out some innovated offense too. That diving through the ropes into a Flatliner thing was pretty cool. The finish though, oh man. That was one of the best Lumbar Checks I’ve seen.

I think Cedric has everything it takes to make the leap to the main roster and be a star. Enzo was pitch perfect in his part, too, as I genuinely want to see him get his ass kicked. The Zo Train seems to be falling apart, and it will only be a matter of time before Gulak has enough. I can’t wait.
