Like a lot of us here at With Spandex, I enjoy Brad Maddox without necessarily “getting” him. I mean, he started as a crooked referee, then he became General Manager of Raw and started running the show like an episode of Tom Goes to the Mayor, and now he just pops up at live events here and there. It seems like they just throw him at the wall and pray he’ll stick, but I’m still holding out hope that there’s a grand plan in the works for him. He just needs an endgame, you know? Something that’ll make us consider the past three years of WWE programming and realize it was all setup, like the Beetlejuice gag from Community.
Anyway, as I mentioned, Maddox is mostly on live event duty at this point. He’s been teaming up with Adam Rose a lot, but that’s not what we’re here to discuss. Instead, I want you to take a look at this picture of him, posted by a fan on Twitter yesterday.

Right away, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I’d seen this before, but I couldn’t place it. After racking my brains for a while, I gave up and started catching up on New Japan’s G1 Climax tournament… and then it hit me.
Okay, maybe this falls slightly short of the impeccable journalistic standards in my Pentagon, Jr. brainwashing exposé, but Brad Maddox is cosplaying Kazuchika Okada and it’s important to me. We have to start calling him “Bradmaker” now. Also, Adam Rose needs to shrink down and become his Gedo. And what the heck, have Jushin Liger score a flash pin on him in his sleep once he’s in Brooklyn for NXT.
