By now we’re sure you’ve seen the clip of John Cena getting his nose broken by WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins’ knee during the main event of Monday’s Raw. According to a report from WrestleZone, the injury was so bad that Cena underwent emergency surgery on Tuesday and could miss “several weeks of in-ring action.”
The surgery was to correct breathing issues, which makes a lot of sense if you watched the poor guy climbing the ropes on Raw with his nose bone practically poking out of his eye. There’s also talk of reconstructive surgery. He’ll have to have that if he wants to preserve his budding movie career, and/or ever put his prosthetic penis inside Amy Schumer again.
Of course, the most suspect part of the report is that Cena will miss time. As heinous as the injury was, the general consensus is that Rollins could’ve shot Cena point-blank in the face with a shotgun and he’d be totally healed and smiling a week later. It’ll be interesting if he does miss time, especially with how important the United States Championship has become and the tentative Cena vs. Rollins build for SummerSlam.
Until then, we wish Cena a speedy recovery and hope that his face has not been compromised to a permanent end.
