All Elite Wrestling‘s Jon Moxley has already had several memorable moments in New Japan Pro Wrestling (Winning a title in his first match! Questionable mentoring of Shota Umino! Inspiring Ishii to do a splash through a table!) and it looks like he could make more at Wrestle Kingdom 14.
Moxley’s next NJPW match will be at King of Pro Wrestling on October 14 when he defends his IWGP U.S. Championship against Juice Robinson in a No DQ match. One could speculate that this will be his last NJPW match, getting the belt back on Robinson and wrapping up the storyline between the two men. However, Moxley’s NJPW contract is reportedly up after Wrestle Kingdom 14, and it sounds like he plans on making that show.
Moxley participated in one of the kayfabe interviews that NJPW regularly publishes on their website, and in it, along with talking about his time in the G1 Climax tournament and saying nice things about young Shooter, he stated that:
100% I plan to be at the Tokyo Dome. I don’t know who I’ll be facing, whether I’m still US Champion. But I’ve been in WrestleMania, in the G1, and this is the next step. Anyone who’s anyone in Japan has competed in the Tokyo Dome, so I absolutely plan on being there.
He added that, “The Tokyo fans are the best, so to wrestle in front of 40,000 of them in the Tokyo Dome I imagine would be an amazing experience.”
With Chris Jericho not confirmed for Wrestle Kingdom yet, but having set up a feud with Hiroshi Tanahashi that suggests they could have a match there, Moxley is likely to be one of two big-name AEW wrestlers working at the Tokyo Dome through a separate contract from the one they have with AEW.
