More than a year ago, we first caught wind of WWE Studios greenlighting The Resurrection of Gavin Stone, a faith-based movie starring Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s Brett Dalton, D.B. Sweeney from Two and a Half Men, the guy who played Janitor on Scrubs as well as, most importantly, WWE Hall Of Famer Shawn Michaels. The movie’s plot, according to IMDB:
Gavin Stone, a washed-up former child star, is forced to do community service at a local megachurch and pretends to be Christian so he can land the part of Jesus in their annual Passion Play, only to discover that the most important role of his life is far from Hollywood.
Thankfully, we don’t have to take IMDB’s word for it anymore, as the first trailer for the film is out now. In it, Shawn Michaels plays Doug, a former biker who has found Jesus and is now a mechanic with a good samaritan program called Cars For Single Moms. (If this was Attitude Era Shawn Michaels, “Cars For Single Moms” would have a whole different meaning.) He is opposite Brett Dalton playing the film’s title character, who pretends to be a devout Christian in order to woo the pastor’s daughter. Even though the trailer doesn’t give any examples, one would have to think hilarity might have a small chance of ensuing, right?
Even though it doesn’t have Rusev with a gun or an accent-free Lana, The Resurrection of Gavin Stone will be released Jan. 20, 2017 on DVD and Blu-ray.
