After a long, hard-fought career, Samoa Joe has finally made his way to WWE, reportedly signing a full-time contract earlier this month. Before he signed that full-time contract, Joe had a deal that allowed him to work NXT and indies at the same time. As part of that original deal, Joe agreed to make an appearance at Ring of Honor’s June 20 TV tapings.
Now that Joe’s situation has changed, the Samoa Joe and AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian match from Saturday’s tapings essentially became Joe’s ROH farewell match. After the match, Joe grabbed the mic and bid a possibly final goodbye to ROH, as his fellow wrestlers surrounded the ring and rabid fans cheered him on. Joe’s final ROH match and farewell speech, sadly, won’t be televised, but a fan thankfully captured Joe’s speech, which you can check out at the top of this post.
A classy way to go out, although probably a little too impassioned for Bret Hart’s tastes.
