On Tuesday, at least six NXT wrestlers will have their lives changed forever when they get selected in the WWE Draft during the first live SmackDown. While a main roster call-up doesn’t always mean instant success, it will still be a life-changing event for whoever makes the move. So it’s understandable that the NXT roster would be emotional and still making the most out of having fun while they still can.
During Saturday night’s NXT live event in Louisville, the five-person team of Finn Bálor, Shinsuke Nakamura, Bayley and American Alpha went up against Samoa Joe, Bobby Roode, Alexa Bliss and the Revival. As far as NXT matches go, it’s impossible to get more star-studded than that. But the best part is that after the match, the good guys treated themselves to their own version of the once-infamous, now-legendary “MSG Curtain Call,” complete with “Too Sweets” and everyone doing Nakamura’s “YEAOH” pose.
Wait, this might actually be the second-best part. The best part might be that at one point during the match, Bayley hit a Bayley-to-Belly on … Bobby Roode.
Yes, that is some intergender wrestling on a WWE event. Mark your calendars, people.
At any rate, it’s so fantastic that this happened and even more fantastic that WWE filmed the NXT main event curtain call and uploaded it so we can all watch it again and again. Odds are good that most, if not all of this five-person team will be called up to the main roster on Tuesday night. And then all we will have are memories.
Memories and still getting to watch them on TV every week. And them earning a lot more money. That’s what I meant.
