After a rumoured card change for NXT TakeOver: Chicago, WWE has confirmed that Ember Moon suffered a shoulder injury after being attacked by NXT Women’s Champion Asuka after last week’s battle royal. As such, she’ll have to sit out the upcoming Network special. Via WWE.com:
Moon suffered a grade one shoulder sprain as a result of Asuka’s ambush during last week’s No. 1 Contender’s Battle Royal and will not be able to compete at NXT TakeOver: Chicago on May 20, WWE.com has learned. Doctors estimate that Moon will require four to five weeks to recover from the injury.
In an accompanying video, Ember is shown with her arm in a sling, disappointed but still determined to get back in fighting shape. Ember was a strong favourite to be the person who could end Asuka’s record-setting championship reign, and the level of the talent in that four-way is a dream.
Hopefully this is a confirmation *wink wink nudge nudge*, but knowing Ember, when she says she’s gonna come back better than ever, she damn well means it. Even without Ember’s presence, the card is still poised to be one of the better WWE shows of the year. That said, we sure do hope Ember gets better soon so we can see that belt around her waist sooner than later.
