WWE Raw results:
– The show began with The Authority being “too nice” to John Cena and announcing that he’s on the cover of the new video game, WWE 2K15. Cena told them he wanted to do things “the hard way,” so Triple H announced a fatal fourway main-event for Battleground: Cena defending against Roman Reigns, Kane and Randy Orton. A tag match between those four was made for later in the night.
1. Seth Rollins defeated Rob Van Dam. Rollins pinned Van Dam after a Curb Stomp. After the match, Ambrose (via the TitanTron) told Rollins that every time he tries to cash in the Money in the Bank briefcase, he’ll be there to stop him.
– Lana and Rusev bragged about Russia/their superiority until they were surprisingly interrupted by Zeb Colter and Jack Swagger. Colter and Swagger effectively turned face, telling Rusev that a “real American” would stop him.
2. The Wyatt Family defeated Sheamus and The Usos. Luke Harper got the win for his team with a discus lariat.
3. The Funkadactyls defeated Nikki Bella. This was a handicap match ordered by Stephanie McMahon. Naomi tagged herself in and got the pin with an inverted DDT. After the match, the Funkadactyls squabbled.
– Wade Barrett was stripped of the Intercontinental Championship due to injury. A new Intercontinental Champion will be decided via a battle royal at the upcoming Battleground pay-per-view.
4. Kofi Kingston defeated Cesaro. Kingston won the match during the commercial break with a roll-up, “exclusively on the WWE app.” I’m not kidding. Cesaro thoroughly beat Kingston up for it, military pressing him over the security railing and repeatedly slamming him into the ring post.
5. The Great Khali defeated Damien Sandow. Sandow was dressed as Vince McMahon. Stephanie showed up on the TitanTron and made a match between Sandow and The Great Khali as punishment. Khali won with one (1) brain chop.
– The Miz made his return to WWE, claiming that Hollywood appreciates him and that he would not leave WWE again until fans were begging him not to go. He was interrupted by an also returning Chris Jericho. Jericho gave Miz a Codebreaker and celebrated. HE was then interrupted by the Wyatt Family. They beat him up and gave him a Sister Abigail to end the segment.
6. Dolph Ziggler defeated Fandango. Summer Rae interfered, making out with Dolph in the middle of the ring. This distracted Fandango and allowed Dolph to hit the Zig Zag for the pin. After the match, Summer was smitten with Dolph.
7. Goldust and Stardust defeated Rybaxel. Stardust pinned Axel.
8. Divas Championship Match: AJ Lee defeated Paige (c) to become the new Divas Champion. In a situation that mirrored Paige’s debut, AJ Lee returned and challenged Paige to an impromptu title match. Paige reluctantly accepted, and AJ pinned her with a small package to regain the Divas Championship.
9. John Cena and Roman Reigns defeated Randy Orton and Kane. Orton and Reigns fought to the back from some reason. Kane hit Cena with the ring steps to draw a disqualification. After the match, Kane gave Cena a tombstone piledriver and knocked him out.
– Triple H check on an unconscious Cena, then waved Seth Rollins out to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase. Before the referee could start the match, Dean Ambrose attacked Rollins and ran him off through the crowd. Triple H and Kane tried to continue the assault on Cena, but Roman Reigns returned, speared Kane and stared down HHH.
